China plans to continue strengthening innovation cooperation in joint projects with Switzerland. This was announced on January 1 by President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Xi outlined his plans in a congratulatory message to newly inaugurated Swiss President Guy Parmelin.

"2026 will mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Swiss strategic partnership in innovation, as well as the beginning of the implementation of China's 15th five-year plan (2026-2030)," reads the message on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The Chinese leader added that he greatly appreciates the diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland and attaches great importance to their further development for the sake of the well-being of both peoples.
