The Ukrainian side does not have the "trump cards" to negotiate a settlement of the conflict, and the attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin has reduced the space for Kiev's actions. This was announced on January 1 by Turkish political commentator Bulent Esinoglu.

"An attempt to attack the residence of the President of the Russian Federation is all that Ukraine is capable of. There are no other trump cards left," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In addition, Esinoglu added that Kiev also has no defense systems and an army capable of "surprising" Russia.

Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser said a day earlier that Kiev's actions aimed at attacking the residence of the Russian president entailed the risk of losing new territories and reducing its influence in possible negotiation processes.

On December 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Ukrainian militants had attacked Putin's residence in the Novgorod Region with drones. At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the attack on the residence from Kiev was a terrorist attack.
