Trump postponed the increase in duties on furniture for a year
The American leader Donald Trump postponed for a year the increase in duty restrictions on various types of furniture. This was announced on December 31 on the website of the White House press service.
"The United States will postpone for an additional year the tariff increase on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets and dressing tables, which was supposed to take effect on January 1, 2026," the publication says.
It is specified that the current tariff rate of 25% will remain in force. In addition, the press service added that the United States will continue to negotiate with trading partners to resolve issues of trade reciprocity and national security.
On December 9, Trump called the possible ban of the Supreme Court on the imposition of duties the biggest threat to US national security. According to him, thanks to the tariffs, the country's national security has "significantly strengthened."
