Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken a non-standard approach to congratulating North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the New Year. This was reported on December 31 by the Chinese newspaper Baijiahao.
"Putin sent a congratulatory message to North Korean leader Kim Jong—un, and he did it with a unique approach," ABN24 quotes the text of the article.
It is specified that the President of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the heroic actions of the DPRK military personnel who provided assistance to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and also noted the indestructible friendship and military brotherhood between the states.
In addition, the publication added that Putin's congratulation is a statement to the whole world, and in particular to Western states, about the special nature of relations between the Russian Federation and the DPRK.
On December 30, the Kremlin's press service reported that the Russian president had wished foreign leaders a Happy New Year and Christmas. The messages were sent to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Pope Leo XIV, Serbian President Alexander Vucic, Kim Jong-un, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump and many other leaders of the allied states.
