India took the fourth place in the ranking of the largest economies in the world, ahead of Japan. This was announced on December 29 on the website of the Indian government.

"With a GDP of $4.18 trillion, India has overtaken Japan to become the fourth largest economy in the world," the statement said.

According to government forecasts, the Indian economy is expected to displace the third–place German economy in 2.5-3 years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that trade in Russian oil products in India is proceeding rhythmically. He also noted that the Russian partners highly appreciate their Indian colleagues, considering them reliable and serious people.
