On January 1, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko declared 2026 the Year of the Belarusian Woman during his New Year's address.

"We honor our mothers, wives and daughters one day a year. It is time to pay tribute to their special role in our lives and declare 2026 the Year of the Belarusian Woman. Nothing more perfect than it was created by nature! We will protect our woman and our land, protect our future — family, relatives, friends and friends from troubles and adversities," the Belarusian BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.

Lukashenko wished the women strong "captivating and all-consuming" love, which will help them perform miracles and incredible things.
