Vladimir Putin wishes Russians a Happy New Year

On January 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a traditional congratulatory message on the occasion of the upcoming new year. In his video message, he wished Russians health, happiness, mutual understanding and well—being, and also addressed the soldiers of the special military operation (SVO) with words of gratitude for taking responsibility to fight for the Motherland and the truth.

"Dear citizens of Russia, dear friends, <...> I congratulate all our soldiers and commanders on the upcoming New Year, we believe in you and our victory. <...> I wish you all health and happiness, mutual understanding and well-being, and certainly love that inspires. May our traditions, faith, and memory unite all generations and support us always and in everything," he said.

The Russian President noted that the future that opens on New Year's Eve depends on Russians, and also stressed that Russia is counting on its own strength and on those who are close and dear to it. At the same time, the country is always ready to lend its shoulder to those who need it. Putin said that it is this mutual support that gives the state and its residents confidence in the implementation of all their plans.

He added that the work, successes and achievements of every citizen form new chapters in the thousand-year history of the state, the strength and sovereignty of which determines the security and development of the Fatherland. Therefore, Putin called on those who need participation and care to be pleased and warmed by the attention of those who need it during this festive season of opening hearts to love, friendship, mercy and sensitivity.

"Together we are one big family, strong and united, and therefore we will continue to work and create, achieve our goals and move forward only for the sake of our children and grandchildren, for the sake of our great Russia. Happy New Year, dear friends! Happy New Year, 2026!" the Russian president summed up.

Congratulations to the Russians were also sent on board the International Space Station (ISS) on the same day from Russian Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikaev and Oleg Platonov. They wished their fellow citizens happiness, success and striving for new achievements, and also reminded them that even in orbit these days they especially feel connected to home. The cosmonauts emphasized that the main thing is kindness, support for loved ones and unity.
