- Russian national team coach Sorin spoke about the conflict with his Ukrainian counterpart in Toblakh
Egor Sorin, coach of the Russian national ski racing team, faced attacks from his Ukrainian colleague due to his presence at the Tour de Ski without a neutral status from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). He told about this on December 31 in an interview with RT.
He noted that in Davos there were no complaints about parking against him, and he left the car next to the stadium and went to the track with the fans, where he was allowed to be a spectator, and on the very first day in Toblach, the coach faced a rather unpleasant situation.
"We drove up to the stadium, stopped in the nearest parking lot to the place where the zone for accredited persons begins, and I got out of the car to show the guys which way to go. I heard Russian behind me. Like, what are you doing here, what are you doing here? I turn around and see the Ukrainian coach coming at me quite aggressively, filming everything on camera. But I did not enter into any kind of controversy with him," Sorin said.
Earlier in the day, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) revoked the parking permit for Coach Sorin due to his lack of neutral status. At the same time, the coach himself has not yet received this status and is on the Tour de Ski as a spectator.
