Five militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) crossed the Dnieper River in a motorboat to surrender to Russian soldiers. This was reported on December 31 by RIA Novosti, citing a source in Russian law enforcement agencies.

"The Ukrainian military crossed the Dnieper River in a motorboat without weapons and body armor and disembarked with their hands raised at a pre—arranged place where they were met by Russian fighters," the agency's source said.
