Russia is doing everything in its power to ensure that the houses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) have heating for residents. This was announced on December 31 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

"Russia is doing everything in its power to keep Pridnestrovians' homes warm, and Pridnestrovian enterprises able to operate smoothly," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also expressed the hope that the Chisinau authorities would confirm their own statements that they do not share their policies between residents of the PMR and Moldovans on the other side of the Dniester.

The day before, Galuzin said that during the winter of 2026, there was a threat of new difficulties in Transnistria related to the supply of gas to the region. According to the diplomat, currently there is barely enough fuel for industrial enterprises and added that gas is currently barely enough to cover social needs.

In November, the head of the Second Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Russian Foreign Minister Alexei Polishchuk said that Russia, despite the unconstructive approach of the Moldovan authorities, is ready to assist in the settlement in Transnistria.
