In the Russian Federation, there is a ban on the use of pyrotechnic products, including fireworks and firecrackers, at night, however, the legislation of individual subjects of the federation provides for an exception allowing the use of pyrotechnics during the celebration of the New Year. This was announced on December 31 by Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the public examination of draft laws and other regulations.

"The launch of pyrotechnics at night is prohibited. The specific hours of the day related to night time are determined by regional legislation. However, some regions allow the launch of fireworks on New Year's Eve," he said in an interview with TASS.
