- The nutritionist recommended drinking no more than 300 ml of champagne on New Year's Eve.
On New Year's Eve, a person is recommended to drink no more than 200-300 ml of champagne with a minimum sugar content. This was announced on Wednesday, December 31, by Natalia Denisova, senior researcher at FITZ Nutrition and Biotechnology, dietitian.
According to her, nutritionists do not forbid drinking champagne, but urge not to abuse it: they advise women to consume up to 200 ml, and men — up to 300 ml. At the same time, Denisova noted that it is better to choose Brut among all sparkling wine varieties, since it contains less sugar. As an alternative, she named dry wines, where there is no carbon dioxide.
The doctor explained that champagne, being a carbonated drink that is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, can instantly cause intoxication, so it should be drunk only after eating. She also said that to lower the alcohol concentration, you can add ice to the glasses.
"It is acceptable to finish a bottle of champagne uncorked the day before, the main thing is to store it in the refrigerator and close it tightly to preserve the taste and aroma," the doctor said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Endocrinologist and nutritionist Anastasia Tarasco gave tips on preparing for the New Year's feast on December 25 in the Izvestia podcast "Let's figure it out." According to her, you should not starve before the holiday, it is better to postpone the "hardest" part of the festive dinner to an earlier time. The expert advised Russians to have breakfast, eat something protein and vegetable for lunch, and have a gala dinner at 20:00-21:00 p.m. The New Year itself, according to Tarasco, can be celebrated with light snacks.
