- The Ukrainian Ambassador in Astana announced the cessation of attacks on the CTC with the end of the conflict.
The attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) will end after the end of the Ukrainian conflict. This was announced on December 30 by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Astana, Viktor Maiko.
"There can only be one guarantee [of security for the CPC], and that is the end of the conflict," he said in an interview with the Kazakh publication Ulys Media, published on the YouTube channel.
According to him, Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attacks on the CTC in official statements.
As a result of the Ukrainian attack on November 29, one of the CPC berths was damaged. Because of this, loading and other operations at the terminal were stopped, and tankers were diverted outside the CPC water area. On the same day, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan urgently activated a plan to redirect oil to alternative routes. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan protested.
Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Kiev was trying to disrupt peace talks with terrorist attacks in the Black Sea. According to her, the same forces that had previously disrupted negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict were involved in the terrorist attacks on tankers.
