The ban on cryptocurrency mining in the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory, which is currently seasonal, is planned to be made year-round. This was announced on December 31 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

"Taking into account the decisions recently taken at the government commission for the development of the electric power industry, this ban will also be adjusted for a year—round one in the near future," RIA Novosti quoted the press service as saying.

It is specified that the relevant decision was made due to the fact that the previously introduced measures have proven their effectiveness for energy security. The Ministry of Energy added that work in this direction will continue.

The press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Trans-Baikal Territory reported on December 26 that employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Transbaikalia stopped the activities of an illegal mining farm, which caused damage to a uranium mining enterprise in the Priargunsky district, estimated at more than 5 million rubles.
