The State Duma talked about the impact of the New Year holidays on salaries
The New Year holidays will not affect the fixed part of the salary of Russian citizens, however, for employees who receive piecework payments, changes in the total amount of earnings are possible. This was announced on December 31 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
It is specified that a period of extended weekends has started in the Russian Federation, which will last 12 days and end on January 11. Thus, in January 2026, the total number of working days will be only 15 out of 31 calendar days, which makes this month the shortest in terms of working hours over the past five years.
"Regarding salaries in January, everything is individual here and everything depends on the form of employment, piecework or non—piecework," the commander—in-chief said about the consequences of long weekends for Russians' incomes in an interview with TASS.
