One of the longest New Year holidays has begun in Russia, which will last from December 31 to January 11 inclusive. The last working week of 2025 consisted of only two working days, and now Russians can enjoy 12 days off, which is equivalent to 288 hours of rest.

The first working day in 2026 will be Monday, January 12th. In total, there will be 15 working days and 16 holidays or weekends in Russia in January 2026. This January will be the most "non-working" since 2021. In previous years, starting in 2022, Russians worked for 16 and 17 days in the first month of the year.

Earlier, on December 27, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced that during the New Year holidays, Moscow's social and medical institutions would operate on a modified schedule. He noted that residents of the capital will be able to use the main city services, including wedding palaces, public service centers "My Documents", veterinary clinics and medical organizations, but the reception time will be adjusted.
