The US Federal Court has ruled in a case against Disney Worldwide Services Inc. and Disney Entertainment Operations LLC, according to which they are required to pay a fine of $ 10 million for violating the law on the protection of the privacy of children under 13 on the Internet and its regulations (COPPA). This was announced on December 30 by the press service on the official website of the US Department of Justice.

"In a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the government argued that Disney had not designated YouTube video content as intended for children," the publication says.

It clarifies that in this way, Disney, persons acting on behalf of the company, and advertisers collected information about children without prior permission, consent, or guardian, violating the SORRA.

The ministry also noted that in addition to imposing a fine, Disney is obliged to comply with the SORRA and create a program to prevent violations of the law.

The Hollywood Reporter magazine reported on November 13 that Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into the Disney+ streaming service during the 2025 conference. He also said that negotiations are already underway with various companies involved in AI-based development.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
