The Russian government has approved the launch of a pilot project to introduce a labeling system for certain categories of baby food products. This follows from the resolution published on December 30 on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"The Russian government decides to conduct an experiment on labeling by means of identification of certain types of baby food packaged in consumer packaging on the territory of the Russian Federation from January 12 to October 31, 2026," the document says.

It is specified that the experimental testing will cover dairy products specially designed to feed children under the age of three, as well as canned products intended for infants under one year old.

On October 16, the State Duma adopted a draft appeal to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the issue of limiting the use of palm oil in the production of food products, including those intended for baby food. According to the draft appeal, the deputies proposed to the government to consider the introduction of excise taxes and an increase in the rate of customs duty on palm oil, as well as to create a single platform for monitoring the technological processes of food production using palm oil.
