On December 30, Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, responded to reports that some Russian citizens were banned from entering Georgia, saying that it was necessary to find out who gave such a command.

"This is most likely the machinations of some forces that still exist in the political environment of Georgia today and do not want to establish and bring the country closer to Russia. Perhaps somewhere in the structures of the border service there is a traitor to the policy of the Georgian government," he said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to the MP, relations between Georgia and the Russian Federation have been improving recently and the situation of discrimination against Russians was not known. In addition, he noted that it is necessary to talk about such cases on all resources.

On December 30, the Russian Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy in Georgia reported that Russian citizens were more often denied entry because of their place of birth indicated in their passport. The diplomatic Mission strongly recommended that Russians carefully weigh possible risks when planning trips to Georgia. At the same time, Artur Muradian, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), expressed doubt that the reason for the refusals was only in the place of birth.
