The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled the replacement of previously extended driver's licenses.

Driver's licenses that expired between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2025 (inclusive)and which, according to the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated March 12, 2022 No. 353, were extended for three years, cannot be extended again. This was reported to Izvestia on January 1 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"Please note that the validity of the driver's license, which expired during the specified period, has been extended for three years from the date of its actual expiration (indicated in section "4b" of the driver's license) and cannot be renewed. The extension of the validity period of Russian national rights does not imply the exclusion of the provision of public services for their issuance and replacement. In each case, citizens apply on the basis of their personal will, the state service will be provided to them in accordance with the established procedure," the message says.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that the issuance of a driver's license, instead of the previously issued one, is carried out without passing exams. To obtain a driver's license, including in the case of its replacement due to expiration, it is necessary to present a passport or other identity document; a driver's license (if any); a medical report on the presence (or absence) of medical contraindications for drivers (candidates for drivers) of vehicles, and also pay state duty.

The procedure for replacing the rights takes place either in the registration and examination department of the State Traffic Inspectorate, or the MFC, depending on where the citizen applied. If the driver's license expires on a non-working day, the holder of such a document must take care of its replacement in advance, the department noted.

"The planned replacement of driver's licenses does not have a single date, but is "tied" to the expiration date of each driver's license separately, which makes it possible to evenly distribute the corresponding workload to the personnel of the relevant units," the State Traffic Inspectorate said.
