The state traffic Inspectorate warned about mass raids on holidays

During the New Year holidays, traffic police officers will be on duty in an enhanced mode. The police will pay special attention to identifying the facts of driving under the influence of alcohol. Such raids are reported by regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.

"We remind you about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Do not turn the holiday into a tragedy, do not risk your life, the lives of your passengers and other road users: refuse to drive a car after drinking alcohol. We kindly ask citizens who see that the car is being driven by a driver in an inadequate condition to report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," said Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Police Colonel.

He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the traffic police emphasize.

The State Traffic Inspectorate noted that despite the New Year holidays, road users who have committed traffic violations should not count on the leniency of traffic police inspectors. In any case, the violators will be sanctioned according to the legislation for a particular offense, the ministry stressed.

Earlier, on December 16, 2025, it became known that the Ministry of Transport, Rosavtodor and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are preparing a package of amendments to the rules of the road (SDA), including the priority of electronic signs, mandatory distance for trucks and new accident accounting rules.
