An experiment on the targeted attraction of foreign workers may be conducted in the Russian Federation in the period from 2027 to 2029. This was announced on December 30 by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on an initiative to conduct an experiment to test the rules and conditions for foreign citizens and stateless persons to work in the Russian Federation in an organized recruitment process," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

Moscow and the Moscow Region will be an exception to the experiment, the press service added. It is noted that the proposed changes will improve the effectiveness of control in the field of migration.

"The budget system of the Russian Federation will receive about 22 billion rubles a year annually," the ministry said.

Earlier, on December 23, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting on migration issues that the location and activities of every foreign citizen must be verified by the authorities, otherwise the migrant must be deported. He added that he visited Sheremetyevo airport, where an experiment is underway to collect biometric personal data of all migrants at the border.
