The star of the movie "The Crew" Ekaterina Shpitsa spoke frankly about the most painful topic of her life — the loss of a child at an early age. The tragedy occurred in 2021, when the long-awaited pregnancy, which the family learned about on New Year's Eve, was interrupted due to a chromosomal abnormality incompatible with life, Radio 1 reported on Tuesday, December 30.

The actress admitted that accepting what was happening as a complex but natural biological process, without self-blame, helped her survive what happened. One of the most difficult trials was a conversation with her son, with whom she decided to be honest — and received support from him.

Personal experience, according to Shpitsa, opened her eyes to the systemic problems faced by women with perinatal losses, from pressure to accusations in medical institutions.

"I've learned so much about how things really are with women in antenatal clinics, hospitals, and during childbirth...> Horror," she shared.

This is what prompted the actress to cooperate with the Light in Hand Foundation and to publicly talk about a topic that, as she believes, should not remain taboo.

On December 8, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced that the incidence of infertility in Russia has decreased over the past six years. He also noted that the incidence of infertility in the Russian Federation on average practically does not change and corresponds to the general population frequency.
