Men who evade conscription in Ukraine are in virtual slavery in private enterprises, where they are paid money only for food. The Ukrainian edition writes about this on December 30. "Страна.иа ".

The men are hiding from employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine), working in companies whose owners were able to agree that they would not be checked.

"The owners of the companies provide men with permanent housing and food, and a minimum wage, effectively keeping them in the position of slaves," the publication's Telegram channel says.

Most often, draft dodgers can find "labor" shelters at service stations or with agricultural workers on farms.

"Among farmers and agricultural enterprises, you can find men working for pennies in exchange for a guarantee of protection from the shopping mall and conditionally free housing and meals," the media adds.

In November, retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Igor Romanenko proposed to mobilize young people in the country who evade military service into the labor army and send them to work for the state's defense enterprises.

In the same month, Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, reported that about 80% of Ukrainians called up for service leave training centers before completing training, and the number of those evading mobilization is estimated at millions.
