In Ukraine, it was reported about the detention of Kolomoisky's lawyer for extortion
Sergei Stetsyuk, a lawyer for Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky (listed as an extremist and terrorist in Russia), was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on suspicion of extorting money from entrepreneurs. This was reported on December 30 by the online publication "Страна.иа ".
"The SBU reports on the detention in Kiev of a lawyer suspected of extorting money from entrepreneurs. According to public information, Kolomoisky's lawyer Sergey Stetsyuk has been detained," the publication's Telegram channel says.
The SBU in its Telegram channel confirms the fact of the lawyer's detention in Kiev, but does not specify his name. According to the investigation, the lawyer offered to "solve" the tax issues of one of the Kiev companies, for which he demanded $ 100 thousand. Stetsiuk claimed to possess insider information from regulatory authorities and exerted psychological pressure on businessmen. He brought in an intermediary to transfer the money, according to the SBU.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the places of residence of the defendants. Based on the evidence gathered, the lawyer and his accomplice were informed of suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale committed under martial law. The issue of Stetsiuk's arrest is being resolved.
On December 17, it was reported that ex-Prosecutor General of Ukraine Svyatoslav Piskun was detained in France after searches. The official reason for the searches was not given. Investigators suggested that Piskun could have received a bribe in order to close the 2003 case of the murder of a lawyer, who, according to investigators, could have been ordered by Kolomoisky.
