On December 31, Sechenov University specialists told Izvestia how to stay healthy and recover after the New Year holidays without giving up on pleasure.

Allergist-immunologist Ksenia Ryabova noted that for people without allergies there are no strict restrictions on the use of tangerines and sweets.: overeating can only cause a non-specific reaction of the body, such as rashes, but it will not lead to the formation of allergies. If there are diagnosed intolerances, any recommendations should be given by a doctor. It is important to remember the measure and not turn the festive table into a test for the body.

A rehabilitologist, Master of sports, member of the Russian national skating team, and director of the Medical Rehabilitation Clinic, Professor Evgeny Achkasov, spoke about the reduction of injuries during winter entertainment. He stressed that the key task when falling on ice is to protect the head: if possible, press it against the body and avoid blows.

"Another life hack on how to protect yourself from falling is walking with bent legs on slippery surfaces. The foot should be placed completely to increase the area of contact with the ice, as well as to avoid sweeping steps. It is better to choose areas that may be the least slippery, it is better to avoid icy mounds and icy snow. In order not to fall on the ice, it is necessary to maintain a balance: to abandon bags with long straps that can shift the center of gravity," the specialist said.

Nutrition control during feasts is another factor affecting the state of the body. The head of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy, Professor Mikhail Osadchuk, advised to have a light snack before the festive dinner to avoid overeating. He recommends giving preference to the elements of the Mediterranean and Scandinavian diets, supplementing fatty dishes with herbs and taking active pauses between meals.

A well-thought-out menu and a clear time frame for meals help children maintain their routine. Pediatrician Svetlana Zhuchkova advises not to turn sweets and snacks into rewards, keep a balanced diet and remember that walking outdoors lightens the nutritional load. Stable sleep remains a key element of the children's regime, even during the holidays.

Alexey Kovalenko, Chief Physician of the University Clinical Hospital No. 5, head of the Zvenigorod Sanatorium at Sechenov University, recommends using the holidays as an opportunity to reboot. According to him, the most affordable means of recovery are outdoor walks, aromatherapy and relaxing thermal treatments. For those who feel chronically tired, he advises paying attention to medical recovery methods, including lymphatic drainage and hypoxic training, conducted under the supervision of specialists.

On December 12, Yulia Malevannaya, Director General of the Autonomous Research Institute of Functional Nutrition, recommended starting taking hepatoprotectors based on essential phospholipids, which help the liver cope with alcohol and food stress. She noted that phospholipids act as building blocks for the repair of liver cells, which experience maximum stress during the holidays.
