- Le Figaro pointed out the damage to the French economy from the loan to Kiev for € 90 billion.
The European Union's (EU) loan to Ukraine in the amount of €90 billion will damage the French economy. This was reported on December 30 by the newspaper Le Figaro.
"While France is struggling to adopt a balanced budget, the loans allocated by European leaders to Ukraine, financed by public debt, raise questions," the publication says.
According to the authors of the article, this situation should provoke widespread concern. However, now it only causes an alarming collective attempt to deny reality, the journalists note.
The country's public debt has reached 117.4% of gross domestic product (GDP), which puts France among the most indebted EU states, which should be perceived as an alarming signal for the authorities, adds "Газета.Ru ".
Earlier, on December 19, the leaders of the EU countries failed to agree on a plan in which they would use frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine. They were unable to overcome the resistance of Belgium, which is responsible for storing most of the funds. Instead, EU countries will provide a loan of €90 billion from the total budget of the bloc.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 29 that Europe was seriously dissatisfied with the taxpayer-funded loan to Ukraine. He added that until the next elections, European citizens will have to put up with those they elected last time.
