Szijjarto pointed to the policy of the EU leadership leading Europe to conflict
The current leadership of the European Union (EU) is pursuing a wrong policy that has caused a crisis on the continent and created the threat of war. This was announced on December 30 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.
"War, migration and energy security. Without going into details, Brussels regularly gives incorrect answers to these crucial questions, thereby hindering the prosperity of European nations and, in fact, endangering the future of the entire continent," the Foreign Minister wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized in the Russian Federation as extremist and banned in Russia).
The politician noted that the Hungarian government will continue to take an independent position in the EU.
Szijjarto stated that the disappointing results of the Brussels leadership have long been obvious. European countries are sliding towards war every day, and the streets of western cities are simultaneously filled with migrants. In addition, electricity bills are increasing dramatically across the continent.
On December 28, the Financial Times newspaper, after interviewing experts in the economic field, concluded that a cease-fire and the achievement of sustainable peace in Ukraine could lead to economic growth in the European Union and trigger a "European renaissance." Most of the experts surveyed believe that Europe's economic growth will be primarily justified by Germany's intention to invest €1 trillion in defense and infrastructure.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on December 15 that the actions of the EU countries are the main threat in the world at the moment. According to him, it has happened more than once in history that Europe has become a source of large-scale crises.
