The Russian side must respond harshly to the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on December 30 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

"In pursuit of these goals, Zelensky attacked the residence of our president. The deputies of the State Duma believe that the answer should be tough. For our part, we insist on this," he wrote on the MAX messenger.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on December 29 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a drone attack on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region. According to the diplomat, 91 UAVs were destroyed by the air defense forces. There was no information about the victims or the damage received.

Later, on December 30, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the attack on Putin's residence from Ukraine was a terrorist attack. He noted that the attack was also directed against US President Donald Trump and was intended to disrupt his efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
