The defense of Oleg Chemezov, the former vice-governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, intends to appeal the preventive measure chosen by the court. His lawyer Nikolai Berdnikov informed Izvestia about this on December 30.

"The defense believes that house arrest is also an excessively harsh measure of restraint, due to the fact that he needs to receive emergency medical care," the lawyer said.

Berdnikov clarified that in conditions of house arrest, it would be more difficult for his client to organize treatment and undergo examinations.

On December 30, the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk changed the measure of restraint for Chemezov from detention to house arrest. At the same time, he himself asked the court to appoint him a written undertaking not to leave.

Chemezov's detention became known on September 29, and the next day the court sent him to jail. The next day, on September 30, the court remanded him in custody until November 15. On November 13, the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk extended Chemezov's arrest in the fraud case until February 15.

It was noted that the property of the family members of the former vice-governor was seized, the total amount of which amounted to about 500 million rubles. We are talking about luxury real estate, cars and business assets in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.
