Moscow cultural institutions held more than 2.5 thousand patriotic events during 2025, which was declared the Year of Defender of the Fatherland in Russia. The events were also timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced by Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.

"During the year, the cultural institutions of the capital held more than 2.5 thousand events dedicated to our country and its heroes. The patriotic program has brought together hundreds of city venues," said Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.

Patriotic, historical and educational events were held in Moscow to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory. The St. George Ribbon, Line of Memory and Biblionoch events, forums, concerts, lessons of courage, exhibitions, lectures and much more were held in the capital.

So, in April, within the framework of Biblionoch, flash mobs "Letters of Victory" and "Hour of Remembrance" were organized — participants wrote messages to veterans and soldiers of the SVO, shared family stories related to the Great Patriotic War.

A large-scale program was also prepared for May 9th. Within the framework of the Moscow Spring of Victory festival, readings of frontline poems with theatrical performances were held. Lectures, workshops and quizzes were held in the parks, excursions and film screenings were held at VDNH, historical reconstructions and performances were held at the Moskino Film Park.

On Victory Day, venues with broadcasts of the Red Square parade and performances by creative teams were operating in all districts. In addition, the 80th anniversary of Victory became the central theme of the landscape festival "Gardens and Flowers" — designers decorated the streets with original compositions.

Since the beginning of the year, the capital's museums have presented over 120 patriotic exhibitions, including "Hero Cities" at the Moscow Defense Museum, "Maestro, Take Off!" at the Museum of Cosmonautics and "Victory. Memory effect" at Zaryadye. An updated exhibition of the Museum of Heroism was opened at VDNH with more than 600 exhibits from the SVO zone — trophies, documents, personal belongings of military personnel, drones and weapons. One of the exhibits was an American Stryker armored vehicle. According to Sergunina, 130,000 people have visited the exhibition since May.
