- The President of Kazakhstan has signed a law banning LGBT propaganda in the media and on the Internet
Kazakhstan has introduced a ban on LGBT propaganda (the movement is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is prohibited), as well as pedophilia in the media (mass media), telecommunications networks and online platforms. The relevant law was signed on December 30 by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Thanks to the document, changes will be made, as well as some existing provisions of the law will be supplemented. In addition, he introduces amendments and additions to the Labor Code, as well as to 12 laws of the country. Among them are about the rights of the child, advertising, mass media and others.
"The Head of State signed the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Amendments and Additions to certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on archival affairs and restrictions on the distribution of illegal content," Tokayev's press service said on its Telegram channel.
Prior to that, on November 20, The Guardian newspaper reported that the New Zealand authorities had decided to ban puberty blockers for young transgender people in the country (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), so new prescriptions for drugs will no longer be prescribed. The decision was made in connection with the conclusions of the Ministry of Health about the lack of "high-quality evidence confirming the benefits or risks."
