There should be no toys depicting demons and devils on the New Year tree for believers, as such decorations are blasphemous. Hieromonk Feodorit (Senchukov) told about this on December 30.

"It is desirable, after all, that the toys on the Christmas tree were not blasphemous. Otherwise, you can just have balls, as usual, and tinsel, and some figurines, if they do not symbolize any demons. There shouldn't be any devils," he told RIA Novosti.

According to him, toys with symbols of the New Year according to the Eastern calendar, for example, animal figurines, do not pose a threat to believers if they are not given spiritual significance. So, if there is a figurine of a cat on the Christmas tree, this does not mean that importance is attached to the year of the cat, explained Feodorit.

According to her, in some regions, including Moscow, the legislation does not provide for exceptions for holidays, so the restrictions remain in force.
