The Saudi authorities expressed disappointment with the actions of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which are putting pressure on the forces of the Southern Transitional Council (UPC). This was reported on December 30 by Al Arabiya TV channel.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses disappointment with the actions of the fraternal United Arab Emirates, which are exerting pressure on the forces of the Southern Transitional Council to conduct military operations on the southern borders of the Kingdom of [Saudi Arabia]," the text of the government's statement is quoted in the material.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry stressed that the steps taken by the UAE contradict the principles on which the coalition of Arab states was created for action in Yemen, and undermine its basic goals related to restoring stability and ensuring security. In addition, Saudi Arabia called on the UAE leadership to comply with the request of the Yemeni side and withdraw its troops from Yemen within 24 hours.

The Saudi SPA news agency reported on December 30 that the Saudi-led coalition announced the start of a military operation in Yemen after it launched a limited airstrike on "foreign military support" based in the Yemeni port of Mukalla. The operation, as specified, was aimed at two ships arriving from the port of Fujairah, which is located in the UAE.

On the same day, the Yemeni authorities declared a state of emergency throughout the republic for a period of 90 days. The Government also demanded the withdrawal of all UAE forces from the country within 24 hours.
