Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces of the 9th Guards Brigade of the 51st Guards Army of the Center Group of forces in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on December 30 shared details of their work with the Merlin VR unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

It is specified that the Merlin VR system is designed to conduct deep reconnaissance and monitor the enemy at considerable distances. This drone is capable of covering distances up to 200 km. Its optical system provides a 15 km forward view from an altitude of 5,000 m. This operating height makes the reconnaissance UAV virtually invulnerable to enemy electronic warfare (EW).

"The command arrives: we prepare the board, go to the take—off point, lay out everything, that is, the catapult, the plane, go through preliminary checks and, at the command of the operator, launch the board," a soldier with the call sign Patriot told Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan.

On March 9, the Ministry of Defense published footage of the Merlin-BP reconnaissance drones of the Zapad group of forces in the area of the special military operation (SVO). It was clarified that drones are unique in that they are able to correct the infliction of fire damage from objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
