US President Donald Trump will be awarded the Israel Prize, which is the most prestigious award of the Jewish state. This was announced on December 29 by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"We intend to award her (the Israel Prize. — Ed.) this year to President Trump," he said following a meeting with the American leader at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Netanyahu clarified that this award has never been given to a non-Israeli in almost 80 years.
