Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on December 29 that the response to the attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin would not be diplomatic.

"The answers will not be diplomatic. Let them not hope," the diplomat said on the air of the Solovyov Live TV channel.

Zakharova recalled that for a long time during the negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the international community to use all possible diplomatic and political measures to prevent an escalation of the situation. However, according to her, instead Ukraine has created a "real international terrorist cell," and Western countries continue to provide Kiev with billions of dollars in loans, supporting the militarization of the country.

She also pointed out that these efforts are escalating the conflict, which, according to Zakharova, only exacerbates the situation and leads to disastrous consequences.

Lavrov said earlier in the day that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a drone attack on the residence of the Russian president in the Novgorod region. He noted that the negotiating position of the Russian Federation will be reviewed due to the attack, but Moscow will not withdraw from the negotiation process.

On December 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to acknowledge Kiev's involvement in the drone attack on the Russian leader's residence, adding that Ukraine was working with the United States to bring the conflict closer to resolution.
