The Moscow Stock Exchange index with an additional code (IMOEX2) decreased amid an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is evidenced by the auction data on December 29.

As of 18:22 Moscow time, the index fell by 1.15% to 2,747.76 points. Later, by 22:20 Moscow time, it rose to 2,757.66 points.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier in the day that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a drone attack on the residence of the Russian president in the Novgorod region. He noted that the negotiating position of the Russian Federation will be reviewed due to the attack, but Moscow will not withdraw from the negotiation process.

On December 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to acknowledge Kiev's involvement in the drone attack on the Russian leader's residence, adding that Ukraine was working with the United States to bring the conflict closer to resolution.
