- Philippot called the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on the residence of the Russian president an attempt to disrupt negotiations
The attack by Ukrainian drones on the residence of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region was carried out in order to disrupt the negotiation process with the participation of the United States. This opinion was expressed on December 29 by the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot.
"This [Kiev's attack on the Russian president's state residence] is being done in order to disrupt the peace process initiated by [US President Donald] Trump: this is extremely serious!" the politician said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Philippot also suggested that the "allies" of the Kiev regime may be involved in provocative actions, since the European Union (EU) and NATO "never stand aside from dastardly attacks" such as the sabotage on the Nord Stream.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier in the day that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a drone attack on the residence of the Russian president in the Novgorod region. He noted that Russia's negotiating position will be reviewed due to the attack, but the Russian Federation will not withdraw from the negotiation process.
On December 29, Zelensky refused to acknowledge Kiev's involvement in the drone attack on the Russian leader's residence, adding that Kiev was working with Washington to bring the conflict closer to resolution.
