Olga Rubleva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, expert at the analytical center of the University of Synergy, told how a prolonged increase in blood pressure affects the state of the body.

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Monday, December 29, the specialist explained that the increase in blood pressure can be both episodic and prolonged. In the case of persistent hypertension, patients are usually prescribed medications for continuous use.

She noted that with pressure spikes, people often complain of headaches, nausea, dizziness and general deterioration of well-being, and may also experience palpitations, anxiety and a sense of fear. According to him, pressure increases are often triggered by stress and changes in weather conditions.

The doctor emphasized that with a prolonged and steady increase in blood pressure, various body systems suffer. In particular, kidney function is disrupted, edema appears, the condition of the heart and blood vessels worsens — thickening of the heart muscle and vascular walls develops, and cardiac arrhythmias are possible.

Clinical pharmacologist Alexander Bykov warned about the risk of a sharp decrease in blood pressure after the flu. The most sensitive to these changes are the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Inflammation leads to increased load on the myocardium, changes in vascular tone, impaired microcirculation and fluid distribution.
