The political scientist assessed the construction of new cities in Central Asia
The population is growing in Central Asia, so the construction of new cities looks quite natural. This was stated by political analyst Rustam Burnashev in an interview with Izvestia on January 9.
"Innovation centers are being created in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the capital is developing naturally in Uzbekistan, and we see a personal project of the former president in Turkmenistan. In some cases, these are new facilities, and in others, existing megacities are expanding. In any case, it's nice that the region is trying to keep up with global trends and requirements for modern urban infrastructure," the expert noted.
Several urban development projects are being implemented in Central Asia. In Kyrgyzstan, the Asman megacity is going to be built on the northwestern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. It is assumed that 500-700 thousand people will live here, the area will be 4 thousand hectares, the cost is estimated at $20 billion.
In Kazakhstan, north of Almaty, they want to build the city of Alatau, in Tashkent, a New Tashkent will appear near the capital of the country, where many government institutions will be moved. In Turkmenistan, the first stage of the Arkadag city has already been commissioned in 2023. The population should eventually exceed 70 thousand people.
