The capital's court extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markarian until February 22.

The Tagansky District Court of Moscow has extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markaryan in the case of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland until February 22, 2026. This was announced on December 29 by the press service of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction.

"By a resolution of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow dated December 29, 2025, the term of detention in respect of A.A. Markaryan, accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, was extended until February 22, 2026," the Telegram channel of the press service of the instances said.

The court also rejected the defense's request to commute the blogger's sentence to house arrest.

Markarian's arrest was already extended on September 3. Then the blogger was kept in jail until November 9th. His lawyers said the investigation's motion was "unfounded." They asked the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions or house arrest.
