Russia does not intend to attack the Baltic States or NATO. This was announced on December 29 by the head of the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service, Kaupo Rosin.

"Today we see that Russia currently has no intention of invading any Baltic country or NATO as a whole," the ERR television and radio company quoted him as saying.

Rosin noted that Russia does not seek confrontation with the alliance and avoids incidents with its neighbors.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on November 11 that the Baltic countries in the European Union had been given the task of doing as much abomination as possible in relations with Russia, and at the same time provoking the country to take actions that would then try to present the United States as a reason for launching serious hostilities based on the fifth article of the Washington NATO Treaty.

In September, Financial Times columnist Gideon Rahman noted that the administration of US President Donald Trump called the Baltic States aggressive towards Russia. He noted that Washington is complaining about the "Estonification" of European foreign policy.
