- The priorities of Russians when buying household appliances in an apartment are named
The demand for multifunctional household appliances in Russia continues to grow — more than half of buyers (55%) consider universal models to be a great way to save space in an apartment. This is evidenced by the data of a study by experts of the HYUNDAI brand, which was reviewed on January 14 by Izvestia.
Current trends show that the issue of rational use of space is of concern to the majority of Russians. For 15% of respondents living in small apartments, the key factor of comfort is a well-thought-out organization of space and the choice of small-sized appliances with an extended range of functions. Even for 65% of Russians living in two- or three-bedroom apartments, proper planning also plays an important role.
When buying appliances for a small apartment, Russians primarily focus on practicality. For 35% of respondents, the key factor was the ratio of price and functionality, while another 25% pay attention to reliability and service life. Compact dimensions and versatility are important for 13% of Russians, while design proved crucial for only 5% of respondents. Only 8% of the survey participants noted the convenience of controlling equipment as an important factor.
"Today, customers are increasingly approaching the choice of equipment rationally: it is important for them that one device solves several tasks at once. Multifunctional solutions help to reduce the number of appliances in the house, free up space without reducing the comfort level," said Alexander Galkin, Product Director of the HYUNDAI brand.
The issue of saving space is becoming one of the key issues in the construction of modern apartments. Thus, 55% of respondents prefer built-in furniture and appliances that visually relieve the interior. While 27% consider compact versions of standard appliances to be optimal, and 35% of respondents are confident that the best approach is to use only the most necessary minimum of items in the house.
The practice of using universal devices has already become widespread. So, 35% of respondents reported that they use multifunctional equipment and are completely satisfied with it, another 19% use such devices as an addition to the main devices. At the same time, a quarter of respondents are already considering buying such equipment.
Among the specific solutions to space constraints, kitchen machines combining the functions of a blender, meat grinder and planetary mixer are the leaders — they were chosen by 30% of the survey participants. 23% of respondents consider washing machines and combined microwave ovens to be optimal. 13% of the respondents mentioned aerogrills as an alternative to the oven, and 10% — vacuum cleaners with a wet cleaning function.
On December 10, GMK founder, REPA co-founder Sergey Razuvaev, at the summing up of the year of the Association of Real Estate Market Professionals, said that developers would start building smaller apartments in 2026 because housing costs were rising, demand was falling, and preferential programs were not suitable for all properties. He also reported a reduction in the income of developers.
