The EU stressed the importance of respecting the integrity of Somalia after the Israeli decision

The European External Action Service called for respect for the territorial integrity of Somalia after Israel recognized Somaliland as an independent state. This statement was published on December 27 on the website of the European External Action Service (EEAS).

"Israel has recognized Somaliland as an independent state. The European Union reaffirms the importance of respecting the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia in accordance with its Constitution, the Charters of the African Union and the United Nations (UN)," the publication says.

It is noted that compliance with these principles is the key to maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
