The demands of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, for a peaceful settlement of the conflict put Ukraine at risk. This was stated on December 28 by political scientist, former lieutenant colonel of the US Army Earl Rasmussen.

The expert stressed that even receiving the previously announced financial assistance from Canada in the amount of $ 1.8 billion would not help Ukraine to take a strong position in the negotiations.

"Right now it's definitely a bottomless hole that you keep throwing money into. All you're doing is prolonging the conflict. This will lead to further loss of territories. And especially now, when key large defensive areas have been compromised, this will strengthen the advance of Russian forces to the west, further endanger Ukraine and, in general, drive Zelensky into an extremely bad position," he said.

Rasmussen added that Zelensky, despite the difficult situation of the Ukrainian army, continues to demand "surrender" from Russia.

A day earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, at a meeting with Zelensky in Halifax, said that Canada would provide additional financial support to Ukraine in the amount of $ 1.83 billion. The politician noted that the allocation of aid will help unlock financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
