Alcohol consumption is dangerous for people with liver diseases, heart rhythm disorders and oncological diseases, even during the New Year holidays. This was announced on December 28 by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko.

"There are people who have illnesses, alcohol is generally dangerous for them. Therefore, you can't even make allowances for yourself on New Year's Eve. These are people with a (heart) rhythm disorder, people with liver and pancreatic diseases, and there are a number of oncological diseases," Murashko told RIA Novosti.

He added that such people often end up in hospitals when they drink alcohol.

Earlier, on December 26, it was reported that most hangover remedies only partially alleviate symptoms and do not eliminate the harmful effects of alcohol on the heart, liver and brain. Experts have warned that using painkillers, caffeine, or energy drinks with alcohol can increase the strain on the body, and a complete abstinence from alcohol remains a reliable way to avoid a hangover.
