Heavy snowfall in the northeastern United States has led to massive delays and cancellations of flights. This was reported on December 27 on the specialized FlightAware portal.

According to the service, 5,588 flights were affected by delays on Saturday, and 862 more were canceled. FlightAware indicated that the deterioration of weather conditions significantly affected the operation of airports in the northeastern states. ABC News reported that up to 15 cm of snow fell in New York State during the day, and authorities urged residents to refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary.

John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York warned passengers about the adverse weather, and Newark Airport recommended spending more time on the road and passing checks. Snowfall and the threat of icing also affected Connecticut, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.

Earlier, on December 26, it was reported that more than 1.6 thousand flights were canceled throughout the United States due to snowfall, with JetBlue airlines accounting for the largest number of cancellations. The largest airports in New York were significantly affected, where up to 23 cm of snow was forecast.
