The State Duma responded to Shevchenko's call for the removal of countries supporting Russia

Statements by Ukrainian public figures may lead to the fact that Ukrainian athletes will remain isolated and will perform exclusively among themselves. This statement was made by State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova on December 27.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), the winner of the 2004 Golden Ball, Andriy Shevchenko, called for the exclusion from participation in the 2026 Olympic Games of countries that support Russia in the conflict.

"I think we need to spread his statement as widely as possible so that these countries can see what he is saying. Everyone is already tired of these political manipulations. If he wants to exclude China, Brazil, India, and almost all of Africa, then Ukraine will simply compete alone. For some reason, Shevchenko is sure that France will support him now. He's going to come out and say, "Why are you not kicking the Russian goalkeeper out of the French club, but praising him?" I want to see what the French will say to him," RIA Novosti quoted Zhurova as saying.
