This is stated in a statement by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), published on December 26 by the press center of the UN headquarters in Geneva on the website.

"This morning, from the positions of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) south of the Blue Line (the temporary line of demarcation between Israel and Lebanon, established by the UN decision. Intense machine-gun fire was opened in the direction of a UNIFIL patrol that was checking a checkpoint in the village of Bastarra. The fire was followed by a grenade explosion nearby," the text says.
